Your English teacher has assigned topics
for your first research paper. In addition to
"print" resources, you need at least three
Internet sources of information for your
research topic. Using the
Google search
engine, you enter your topic keywords and
come up with thousands of hits. Finding
information is obviously not going to be a
problem, but
how do you know if the infor-
mation you find is valuable, authoritative,
and credible?
You need to do some critical
thinking about a site before you use the
information it contains.
You will be working in groups of four to
critically evaluate Web pages. Each of
you will be examining the sites from a
different perspective. You will be re-
sponsible for completing an evaluation
sheet for each site focusing on the per-
spective you assume within your group.
Group members will share their infor-
mation with one other and as a group,
you will do an overall evaluation of the
sites, summarizing your findings in a
site review document.
